I use FL studio and would like to know how to play a gig using a laptop. Do I need any special cables?

Your laptop, assuming it is powerful and capable enough to do your mixing, is adequate already. There should be either a line out or headphone socket on the side somewhere, into which you can plug a standard 3.5mm stereo jack connected to an amp, mixing desk or other source.

Try to use the line out where possible as some people believe that is better, but headphone sockets are good enough in my opinion. If you're playing a gig, then the ambient distortions in the venue will mask any slight bad audio quality headphone sockets *may* produce.

But yes, it's all set up and raring to go in many cases.

Best to get an external soundcard - There are many around, just depends on whether you need any live instruments or what music software your using. If just a DJ then use Traktor DJ (PC) or Megaseg (Mac) and depending on how good your soundcard is you may not need a soundcard.

depeends on what u mean by a gig?
if u mean dj set no probs, u just need amp and speakers.
