1. Unplug the machine.
2. Get access to the heating elements, either in the back by removing the panel (10-12 screws) or by removing the access panel under the door.(Depends upon which model/mfg).

I have the answer if it is electric!

Take the back off the dryer... find the heat element... there will be several wires coming off of it! MARK THESE WIRES SO YOU KNOW WHERE TO PUT THEM BACK TO. The heat element will have a couple screws holding it in place. Remove the heat element. You will prob find that the coil (looks like a spring) is broken. using a pair of pliers, twist the ends of the coil together where it is broken. Twist them good! Put it back, hook up all the wires, and wa-la you have heat!

Go to your home store, you can find a heat recovery sytem. All it does is connect to the exhaust hose and trap lint in a water bath, and the heat goes in the room. Costs about $10 Then there will be no vent to the outside. you just clean out the basket regularly. This is for electric only, gas needs to be vented but there are more expensive kits for gas.

Check the heating elements - some or all are likely broken.

Check to make sure your vent isn't clogged with lint....if it's still not heating then you will need the elements replaced.
