Generally most breeds wait until the males start to get aggressive. Then remove the males that being aggressive, or are being beaten up. One of reason for this is betta tend to get depressed when they are 1st jared. They may not eat for days. Be sure put the so they can see their siblings. The females from the same spawning will tend to be okay in a tank with each other.

I dont know how many weeks you're supposed to separate them but I know its when you can tell the males from the females. If you can tell then I would put them into cups now and I would assume they would still grow and that good stuff.

yes you may separate them but remember once they are separated they cannot be put back with each other again

well you should give them as much space as possible, just still seperated from each other. bigger cups will suit them better. oh, and don't forget to feed them!
