I had acl repair about 3 months ago and things are progressing well. Yesterday I slipped on mud and fell. I landed with my bad leg bent under me. It hurt a little but I could walk afterwards. I'm a little concerned that I may have hurt it...but I also feel that I may just have bend my knee more than I was used to.

I see my Physical Therapist tomorrow, but any advice in the meantime?

You probably just bent it a little to far - not always a bed thing but it can get swollen and irritated as a result. Sometimes the fall will break some scar tissue and allow your knee some extra movement - I've seen it happen to patients!

In the meantime, just ice it for 10 minutes every hour. Anything longer than this can actually increase the swelling - your body's natural response to the cold (vasodilatation reflex of the blood vessels - just trying to protect itself from further injury). Try and take it easy today until you see your physical therapist tomorrow.

Good luck!

Definately wear the brace. I had ACL reconstructive surgery as well as a torn MCL that needed to heal. I wore a brace for a while afterward, until I felt no pain or discomphort. Took me longer than 10 months. Maybe mine was more severe.

i have had the same surgery.

you should rest your knee and give it time to heal. sounds like you stretched it when you bent it under. i know the feeling! it hurts. i would elevate it and ice it to avoid swelling.
