I am using an IP logger on one of my sites to track my visitors. How can I use the IP addresses I have to locate the placement of the computer? This is typically for a home address.

The reason I am asking is because the IPs I am recieving I can check the city, but it is almost always inaccurate. My IP isn't even in the same state! I figured an actually address would help me out. So, what you guys are saying, legally I cannot do that?

tell it is not impossible to do and neither is it impssobile to track the gegraphical location of a specific ip address many web sites do for eg
if u log on to google.com from india u will almost always be automatically redirected to google.co.in
obviously they can only do it if they track the location of my ip address so being illegal is outta of the question .
Now how u do it is a different question u can track ips by writing a small program urself (it maybe small in length but thats only where its small) that would require u to posses some extraordinary protocal and programming skills which i may assume if u had this question wouldn have been here
Secondly u can use softwares to do it for u there are a variety of softwares available though i cannnot state names etc here
but try searching for port scanners they may help
and geo locators and stuff like that u may find somethin useful
however i may add here that it maybe hard to find the pin point location as that would require some extraordinary programming skills as most softwares do not point out the exact address
u maybe probabbly get coordinates if u lucky to find a software for that

Yes, I see the reason why you asked this question. I cannot give a direct link (professional ethics) but if you look closely you will find on Internet web sites, which will pull, based on the range of IP addresses registered - Organization name, phone number and address of the Organization (School, Government entity, Internet provider and etc). In most cases you can see only the IP providers name, but also you see an Abuse Reporting Organization's name. That is your way to go, if you really believe someone with is trying to harm you or your computer you can report to that organization and to get the all details, per say, for the hacker.
But if you want to find someone just for the fun of it, my suggestion is don't even try! You will find only troubles - and you will need to answer many questions before to be able to use a computer again!

Your ip address is attached to every e-mail you send. It's no secret. If you have a good firewall they can do nothing, but it is easy enough to change if that would give you some peace of mind. You can ask your internet provider to change it, but usually just shutting down and re-starting your modem re-issues a new ip address. As far as your home phone number, just pay attention to caller ID and use your voice mail to screen your calls. Isn't that what everyone does?

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://bitly.im/aMwOk
Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.
You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

no way! With a warrant, the FBI may be able to have the provider give them the name / address of the user.
