Actually we never know what we really look like. Our perception of our image varies from one image-reflecting surface to another. To speak for myself, the man in the mirror sometimes looks really handsome. On other occasions, it is just a plain, if not ugly, face

Not to mention that a mirror shows what we look like in reverse! Photographs are slightly more reliable, but even they can be altered.
More importantly, I don't think it's possible for a human being to be completely objective - our perceptions of things (including of ourselves) are always shaped by mood, opinion, morality and other influences.
Also, as some other answers suggested; there is no permanence; we are constantly changing from the moment we are born. You have accept that there is no fixed 'self', which sounds disconcerting at first, until you realise it means that you can be whatever you want to be.

You would never know, no matter how perfect the mirror, as your expression is bound to change as soon as you catch sight of yourself, so you do not see what you looked like before you looked.
Vision occurs in the mind of the beholder, not entirely in the sphere of optics.
So, again, you are not going to see yourself as others see you. In fact two people looking at you will not perceive the same "you", firstly because their sharpness of eyesight and colour vision will not be identical; secondly because they will see the image in terms of a preconceived library of faces and possibly memories of you, rather than a literal millimetre by millimetre analysis of the image cast by your face on their retina at that second.

Don't look in the mirror. If you videotape yourself, it might work, but there might be a one-hundredth distortion. You know what I mean? But if you really want to see what you look like, I would say camera works best.

I've got an old skinny wardrobe mirror that makes me look 2 x smaller than i am. i love it as i think i look good in every thing. GET ONE, if you feel you look gud ,you,ll be more positive and confident , other people will notice you more for your personality, not your size.

If you use a plain mirror that is clean enough, you see yourself and that is what you look like.

You can't because every minute, second, etc has variables. Therefor to know EXACTLY what you look like is impossible.
