The Chronicles of Narnia
A Wrinkle in Time (and all the books in that series)
I look for good make belief. Something that brings me away from my life. Something that takes me into a new world and kind of plays with my brain. I like all sorts of Fantasy books. The only one that I didn't like were the Series of Unfortunate Events. It made me cry to much and it didn't bring me to a magical Place. If you want anymore books I'll be happy to give them to you. I don't have an e-mail address to give to you, so post more questions about books!

There are three words you MUST understand to write good fantasy. They are:
Suspension of Disbelief
What does this mean? It means readers can get into your story and not say to themselves, "Oh, this is a crock."
Your job as a fantasy writer is to help your readers 'suspend' (put on hold) their DISbelief. In other words, your writing helps them step out of reality and into your fantasy world without ever having to second guess who, where or what your story has in it.
How do I know? I write fantasy, and I'm very good at it. If you'd like a free demo of my newest fantasy hard cover release, THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY, just email me at FiveStarAuthor@aol.com. The demo is fully illustrated and it will give you a nice taste of my book.
Good luck with your writing!

The character creation. No matter how fantastic the characters are we need to know them, almost personally. The plot should be very engaging, many unseen revelations. A story that is too predictable is only ink on page, very boring. A story that leaves me guessing, a provocative style, brings the world & characters you'll write to life.

a good plotline, of course.. i'm not really into all those travel or quests fantasy book that involves saving some princess or going off to another dimensions or stuff like that.. the best thing about the fantasy genre is the ability of the author to be really vivid in the description of the events and places.. i love it when i can imagine all the characters and on goings.. love classics like narnia, LOTR, chrestomancy.. also like HP, and Neil Gaiman's books.. all these authors are really imaginative and are able to suck u into their world..

Even if it is a fantasy, the characters have to be believeable, have depth. They have to make me want to keep on reading to see what happens to them. If you are seriously going to write a book, a course in journalism is best

in fantasy, you basically do all the things you would in any other book, you have to have good character development, a good plot, conflict on many different levels, etc. but you also have to create a world that is both intriguing and believable. be very thorough when creating your world. think about its cosmology, history, natural laws, etc.

1. Something true from history.
2. Definitely NOT the typical big breasted blonde damsel in distress and wavy black haired big bicep tan hero man with an arrogant/irritable side that needs to be "tamed."
3. vampires are always good.

I like it when the book is out there but believable. If it's too corny or far fetched, then it's no fun to read because you can't relate or even pretend it could be real. Good luck on your book! =)

I look for realistic characters, emotions/feelings, and situations. I also appreciate a really good plot and detail. For me, the whole story has to be captivating, keeping me on the edge of my seat. Good luck!
