Suppose you as a county prosecutor accusing a construction company that the company defrauded the tax money by paving the asphalt thinner than 10 inches required by the contract with the city. What is the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis? Express them in equation form.

This isn't homework. I did solve this problem and got it wrong. I'm trying to figure out my mistake.

H0: mu = 10 inches
HA: mu < 10 inches

The null always has the equal sign in it. The alternative has what you wish to show is true.

The alternative hypothesis is mu > 10 inches. The original hypothesis is mu < 10 inches.
