I would say this is failry true. Maybe not HALF, but I would say a good amount lose friends over something having to do with a wedding, which in hindsight seems stupid, because you would think that the bridesmaids would WANT to do everything for the BRIDE! Who knows, I lost a friend due to a stupid dress disagreement. (Not to mention she was my bridesmaid!)
Good Luck!

There was one girl in our area who called a chat show and asked if it were fair that her friend told her to step down from her duties. It seems that the bridesmaid had gained about 20 lbs and the bride felt she wouldn't be comfortable in the pictures.
The friend said she was fine with that and as long as she had a dress that was a good fit why would she be embarrassed. The bride held firm and wouldn't let her into the wedding party.
Yikes.
I don't know that the statistics are that high but this is a time for high stress and people get very emotional and a little unreasonable.

I don't know if that statistic is true. I mean, how would they even collect that information.
However, a whole lot of anguish can be avoided if the bride remembers that her bridesmaids are doing her a favor. They are not dolls that one dresses up and moves around because she "deserves it" or it's "her" day. They are real people who must spend real money and time for no reason other than friendship.
Brides should be grateful and gracious and should do their best to make being a bridesmaid as convenient and inexpensive as possible.

I never had bridesmaids. Problem solved.
And I never would. Small wedding, just closest friends and family. All that is required.

Yeah that normally does happen. Just try to have a bunch of bridesmaids that way you can pick a bunch of your friends for it.

Happened to my ex when she got married. In fact, she lost two of her best friends because of it.
All because of stupid petty hearsay, and the girls injecting their own selfish drama onto an already incredibly stressed bride's shoulders.
