No counting sheep does not help you go to sleep. Counting sheep will just irritate you a lot. It will keep you up all night trying to remember what number you are on.

I dont know about counting sheep, as a way to help you sleep? Only, because, I've never done it. However, when I have had a hard-time sleeping. It usually was, because I couldn't just shut-down my brain from my day. Or from stress-related issues. So, what I do when that happens, is I take a Valium! Ha! Just kidding! I mentally go to a place, in my past, that was peaceful & serene. When nobody was there. Like, my place, was on top of a really high mountain, on top of a Boulder. Looking down with my sister. We both were just looking down at our cousin's parents house, in silence, and we sort of were so quiet,(with the great outdoors)we felt as tho, where we were, was like sitting with God. It was so peaceful & just Beautiful, everywhere! I go there often, mentally to help me shut-down, all those things that keep me awake. Try your peaceful, spot, and see if that doesn't help you with your "Trying sleeplessness, nights". Good-Luck & Sweet -Dreams!! Smile.........

Yes it does. You have to see each sheep as it jumps over the fence. Don't name them though cuz then it gets to personal. I did that once and then I couldn't sleep. Make sure you have lots of different colored flowers there too. I think Nibbles, the 4th sheep likes Lilacs. Elsie the 2nd sheep likes.....here I go again naming them. Don't name them! Good night

YES b/c it keeps your mind busy. you end up getting bored of counting and drift off to sleep. you have to keep your eyes closed and really try to picture the sheep jumping over the fence. This concentration is what helps you drift off.

Its just a ploy to take your mind off everything, and do something that is boring, so you will fall asleep. It has nothing to do with actual sheep.

It can... Ive done it. Some tips for falling asleep Ive used (i used to have a problem with falling asleep) are : relax every muscle in your body one by one, after you get into a comfortable position.. clear your mind completely (thoughts keep you awake)... and if all fails watch some tv until you pass out, and eventually you wont need to watch it anymore to fall asleep. :)
