Hi-

There's a Michaels right over the Bay Bridge in Emeryville. If you drive like you are going to IKEA, it's in the mall where the Trader Joes is. Go over the bridge, head north on 880 - but stay to the right as the exit is right away and you have to cross 4 lanes of traffic. Exit right, make your first right onto Hollis. You can't miss the strip mall.

There is another Jo-Anne's fabric in Daly City - head south on 280, exit in Colma, - I forget the name of the exit, but it's the one that has that awful congestion due to the animate Mall Sign on the West side of the free way, make a left at the exit and go under the freeway, and it's in the strip mall behind the Target Strip Mall. - It's on Colma Ave which is off of Junipero Serra Blvd.

Both have yarns, needs, hooks, art supplies, etc., but there is more polyester than wool in all of their yarns. So, if you are looking for supplies other than wool yarns or like the department store type art store, JoAnn Fabrics should also have what you need.

If you are looking for yarn, I would check out Imagi Knit, they're between the Castro and Mission Delores on 18th street - at 3897 18th. There's also Art Fibers Gallery at 124 Sutter St.

It always amazes me that some folks who post questions here don't use the net to find their answers!! Go to San Francisco phone book!! Your computer is way more helpful than you seem to realize. Also..you may have some trouble finding embroidery instuctions and patterns...You can find some help on the net but you'll have to pay for it. Also..I have this little booklet that shows all the embroidery stitches and how to do them. Iron on patterns are really hard to come by these days. Good luck...have fun. Oh, you will likely find crochet patterns, etc. at a local knitting and yarn shop.
