Amen, Brother! You score BIG points with me for mentioning David, Bobby, and Davey. I miss Cale, too.
I find myself missing televised races a lot more these days: I don't much care for the current crop of rude, foul-mouthed juvenile delinquents(The Busch boys, Tony Stewart, etc.) Jeff Gordon is in a separate class by HERself.
I like Kahne, Edwards, and Biffle, though.
What really gets my goat is when they talk about '60's and '70's races and refer to them as Nextel Cup races instead of Winston Cup races.
I think France and Helton are selling out the fans who built NASCAR in favor of TV ratings and advertising dollars. The audience they are attracting now are fickle, and will soon turn from NASCAR to the Next Big Thing, mark my words. I raise a glass to you, friend.

It has gone down hill. When a 6'5" guy like Michael Waltrip can barely fit into the car, something has gone big time wrong. You can only tell the makes by the decals. If one make of car seems to be faster, the other two whine and cry to make theirs equal. So NASCAR listens, 'cause of the big bucks. I mean, come on, this "aero push", running in dirty air, crying about the tires, is crap.
Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt forever!
I have stopped going to NASCAR races. I quit paying for season tickets at MIS because now you have to purchase tickets to the Busch or truck races along with NASCAR tickets. I could care less about the trucks or the NASCAR drivers dominating up and coming drivers in BUSCH.
So I have been visiting local tracks. More entertaining (they really drive hard) and way less expensive.
Good luck Bill FRance-you're going to need it when Toyota gets started next year. IT IS AN AMERICAN manufactureres sport.

My husband who is a big fan use to be able to stay awake during a race, but now falls asleep before it is over.I use to watch the races but can't stand all the bull crap that is involved within the many cliques of each race.I hate the big business people who have taken a one time great sport and made it all about the money.Yes I love the safer attributes they have but I do not like the fact all cars look so similar. We still have great drivers but miss the ones from the past like Dale Earnhardt Sr. God bless him.

Well it's certainly changed, but on the other hand, the sport is clean, family oriented and more widely known and respected now than ever before. I still love it and admire the progress NASCAR has made in the last 15 years or so. I think it just keeps on getting better.
