I have found they do best in water and pebbles, or just water. They don't like you moving their roots around, so try not to move the roots. indirect light seems to work the best, inside or outside, They live it seems forever, mine is 15 years old and went from 4 inches tall to 3 and half feet, I started mine in a small glass and now it's in a very large glass vase, very leafy, I put mine on my patio in the summer, out of the direct sun, and it spends the winter in my kitchen window, I missd it daily, the whole plant. Good Luck on yours!!!!!!

Actually I also the one but it does not grow after a certain height give water daily spray on it water to avoid settlement of soil as does not look good it is suitable for keeping in shade. But if you want it to grow large then shift to pot.you can not put soil instead of soil for inside.

The best idea would be to keep the bamboo in a relatively small container and keep small pebbles or rocks in the container and always use room temperature water with all plants, never use ice water or hot water.

I have one on a sunny window sill,I have just read toay that they will survive for a year in water and then you can pot them in potting compost in flower pot and treat them like a normal house plant
