I personally think any well known brand is good. Logitech, Apple, Sony, etc.
However, just to throw some idea here..if you have laying around camcorder, you should consider to use it as your webcam. Yes, you can use your camcorder as your webcam.
Camcorder delivers sharper images due to its higher resolution. You don't need the latest camcorder. Any camcorder will do. If you don't believe me, try yahoo it or check www.webcamdv.com

There are lot of Webcams in grey markets.. But always Logitech is a best one.
