Those most durable and tarnish proof silver is called rhodium silver. It is some times called German silver or Mexican silver. It is shinier than sterling and never tarnishes or gets dull. It is harder than sterling and scratch resistant. There are plenty of places to get it. It does not give off the black powder (oxidant) that sterling does.

if its real, it shouldn't tarnish or have anything happen to it, but just in case your silver does become dirty or tarnished use the white paste toothpaste and water and just simply wash it using the toothpaste, it will give it an instant shine and be good as new. (i'm almost positive that it only works for real silver, but give it a try)

Sterling I guess, is it salt water or pool water you are swimming in and does it just tarnish or turn you skin green? if it turns your skin green then it's crap and you should get rid of it. Silver won't do that.
