I have the pink ipod mini. Itunes on your computer should have all your play lists stored if in fact you have not deleted them from your computer. Plug your wire into your computer and your ipod and reload your play lists. You don't have to have a play list to update your ipod at all. Your songs are automatically downloaded into your library and you are the one who manually creates your play lists. That should have no impact on why you are unable to update your ipod. I do know you need to wait a couple of minutes for your computer to recognize that you are updating. I do with mine anyway. I hope this helped and good luck!

Maybe not. I think it might be a ipod update issue.
When you connect you ipod to the computer and you open up iTunes your ipod is recognised e.g. Bob's ipod. right click on that icon, go to ipod options, click automatically update all songs and playlist. It should update all songs. See how you go.
Good luck
