Try http://www.gmail.com You can ask someone to send you an invitation or you can just go to that website and then click on ABOUT GMAIL and then on the left, pretend you want to SWITCH TO GMAIL and you can setup an account. It gives you 2 gigs of email space and you can sync it to your outlook to save it on your hard drive.
You can also get a yahoo email account since it looks like you already have a yahoo ID.

You should know yourself," YAHOO EMAIL ACCOUNT UP TO 1 GB IS FREE", If you like you can sign up for a new account, BUT WITH A DIFFERENT ID.

Let me see, I think you can sign up for a free e-mail account at www.hotmail.com or www.mail.com , and you can also just sign up on yahoo under a different screen name.
