I have 40 page views and 8 visitors. What does this mean?

That between the 8 visitors, your pages were viewed among them 40 times.
Someone could come to your page and leave it without looking at your post. That counts as a visit. If your posts are opened then it counts as a view.
At least that's what I THINK it means.

it means only 8 ppl have view your page but they have been there more than 1 time 40 times total

well it's just it tells you how many people went to your page and how many times they looked at your pages.
