How do I get my laptop to connect to the internet through a router?

I have set up the router already with the instructions. I looked for a wireless connection through my laptop and it still is'nt working. What should I do?

It depends actually. We have to check if the problem is your wifi card, the connection of the router or your browser.

Check if the your wifi card is activated, if it can see wifi networks then we can isolate that the wifi card is working.

Check if the connection to the router is working, if your wifi card could not detect your rputer (ie it can't see HOME network (default for linksys)), try restarting the router. If it doesn't work you have to reconfigure the router again.

Check if the browser settings is correct. Check whether your proxy is turned on. Most of the time I could not browse the internet because my proxy in the office is activated.

You need two things to make your laptop wireless.

1) a wireless router
and
2) a wireless laptop

If your laptop does not have WIFI, then you have to force it to be wireless by buying a wireless PC card.
Once you set up your wireless router, and once you make your laptop wireless, you can just easily click on the "View wireless networks" and your router should show in the signal list.

Also make sure that when you set up your connection on your laptop, you have to choose wireless and not local area connection. If your laptop already has a built in WIFI, then make sure its turned on. There should be a light indicating that its on. Im assuming that you are trying to connect to your router wirelessly from your laptop.

if your laptop local area connected and working, then problem with your router internet sharing is not enabled you have to enable it.
