I just started a Calculus 1 class last week and am having a hard time understanding the idea of limits. Will the name "limit" help me understand at all? or should I assume that the actual word "limit" was just pulled out of someone's butt...? really confused...HELP

The idea of a limit can be a very confusing one for students. Sometimes you can best understand the concept by seeing visual examples. My favorite website for calculus topics is www.calculus-help.com It's got alot of great tutorials to help you with different concepts in calculus. Well, your in luck! Because they have a specific flash video on limits to help you understand! Here is the link, it is very informative: http://www.calculus-help.com/funstuff/phobe.html . You'll probably want to start with lesson 1. Good Luck!
