There are some days I just create a mess for myself, then when it bites me in the butt I have to do damage control. I hate it!

Then stop doing it, damage control that is.

If you see a problem fix that problem. If you can't fix that problem get help. If you can't get help reevaluate the problem. If it is still a problem and you can't fix it go on.

Your perception is that you create the problem. Not so. You identify the problem, if it is one. If it isn't then, you misidentified the problem. But, you didn't create the problem.

You are personalizing things. Take a step back and examine what as to be done, when, and by whom. It may not be you who caused te problem. It may not be you who sould solve the problem. It may not even be a problem. It is amazing how many problems just simply disappear if you let them.

Try organizing your life in three parts, today, this week, somewhere down the line. Priortize your problems according to urgency and ability to be accomplished in a timely manner. Urgent and quick goes first, followed by urgent but has to be done over time, followed by not so urgent but quick, and so on. tis will increase your productivity and hopefully get you ahead of the game. Instead of doing damage control you will be telling people that you are too busy to help them out because they think you are doing so much better than they are at managing your problems.

And if it is just stupidity getting in your way, measure twice and cut once. It is better to be safe than sorry. And that goes for people as well. Be careful of the toes your step on, they may become your boss some day.

Absolutely. You are not alone in this. Thankfully all days are not as such. Even when we err often and go through long periods where life can be arduous: it is rare that this can continue for the remainder of our life. I try to "know myself" or as the Sage of Samos puts it in English "know thyself". So if I keep screwing something up or repeating the same error I can avoid it by not putting myself there in the first place. If you can know all of you weaknesses and faults and accept them then you will be stronger and able to hopefully avoid what can cause you to create a mess. Some people know they should not gamble or drink because they have no control over it. Others know they can't be near certain kinds of personality's because they will freak at them. It is not a fool proof plan as we are just small humans living on a big planet in a huge universe and we ar allowed to make mistakes. That's life. I screw up all the time. Have some self-irony and don't try to be perfect as we are imperfect and to err is definitely human. Here's to better days ahead!

If all you are doing is damage control in your life, then you are not in control of your life. You are being manipulated and you need to stop allowing people to treat you in such a manner. The Bible tells us that if it is at all possible, then we are to live peaceably with all people, but this does not mean that you are to be everyone's doormat. There are many people around who feel that everything that occurs in their life is an emergency. This is ghetto thinking. Actually, there are very few things in life that are really important. You have to decide what is important and what can be shelved or totally ignored. Sometimes you have to get ugly about it because there are people that are hardheaded, self-centered and assertive. Don't let scatterbrains drive you insane. Do not let foolish people monopolize your time---your time is valuable and you have only so much of it during your lifetime. Pray to God to receive wisdom about what is important in your life and then focus on the answer he gives you. Jesus loves you and he wants you to serve him. If you do so he will give you the time and keep the interruptions out of your life.

Yeah - there are some days that I feel like am on top of the world, taking care of everything and some other days where I just can't stop myself from either saying or doing something that deep down I know will come back to haunt me... just gotta take each day as it comes and strive to make it better... :)

I think that what is worse is to try to do damage control on a subject outside your immediate sphere of influence and then creating a new problem for yourself. (that you have to subsequently control too!) That's a full day and a half!

Your subordinate would have fallen sick and taken leave.Your car may not start,
Bread may get overburnt. Electric supply may not be there. ETC ETC.

I've been there and I feel for you. Life gets better but it takes a few decades to get the hang of it. Some weeks come with multiple Mondays. Eventually they come with nothing but weekends. Really enjoy the phase your in because thats all it is. :)

When things seem so perfect we throw a little chaos into the mix.

Yeah ! Thats true !
Reactive maintenance - fix after it broke
Preventative maintenance - fix before it breaks
One of the processes - count to ten.
