Its impossible for the President to "run the country," so to speak. His span of control is most effective managing a certain small number of people. You hear them reffered to as "Secretary Of..." Although he has final say on the big ticket items we hear on CNN, he mostly delegates responsibilities to other people. Which is the only effective way of managing an operation as large as the U.S. Government.
