Violet eyes do occur naturally, but they are very rare. No one seems to know exactly how they occur, but there are two prevailing theories. Both of them involve little or no eye pigmentation, but not necessarily true albinoism. The first theory supposes that the violet color is a combination of red and blue blood vessels in the collagen, combined and reflected by the lens and sclera. The second theory believes that violet eyes occur when the cells of the sclera are very small, so small that they block light with a long wavelength. Only very short wavelength light (violet light) can get through. Recent research has shown that this is likely to be the mechanism that causes blue eyes (there is no blue pigment in blue eye). Violet light has a slightly shorter wavelength than blue light, and is on the highest end of the visible spectrum.

Violet eyes are extremely rare and are a variation of blue eyes. They are believed to be caused by eyes having so little pigmentation that the red and blue blood vessels permeate through, causing a violet color of the iris. A noteworthy subject is Elizabeth Taylor, whose physical trademark is her violet eyes.

I know you said not Elizabeth Taylor but this is what i found under Wikepedia...

Only with Colored contacts. It is harder to get a true color of purple if the person has dark eyes such as brown or black. If their eyes are blue or hazel it would be easy to get the tru color of purple
