The concept of reincarnation seems to offer one of the most attractive explanations of man’s origin and destiny. There is an increasing interest in this topic today, sustained especially by books and magazines, TV broadcasts, movies and conferences. Most of them are related to the world of esoterical wisdom and occult phenomena. Reincarnation is a hot topic also on the Internet, as you may have already noticed. Not only adherents of Eastern religions or New Age spirituality accept it currently, but also many who don’t share such esoteric interests and convictions.

Reincarnation seems to give hope for continuing one’s existence in further lives and thus having a better chance to attain liberation. This is a source of great comfort, especially for those who seek liberation on the exclusive basis of their inner resources. On the other hand, reincarnation is a way of rejecting the Christian teaching of the soul’s final judgment by a holy God, with the possible result of being eternally condemned to suffer in hell. Another major reason for accepting reincarnation by so many people today is the fact that it allegedly explains the differences that exist between people. Some are healthy, others are tormented their whole life by physical handicaps. Some are rich, others at the brink of starvation. Some have success without being religious; others are constant losers, despite their religious dedication. Eastern religions explain these differences as a result of previous lives, good or bad, which bear their fruits into the present one through the action of karma. Therefore reincarnation seems to be a perfect way of punishing or rewarding one’s deeds, without the need of accepting a personal God as Ultimate Reality.

the reason why nobody with a scrap of sense can take reincarnation seriously is because the world population today is over twice what it was fifty years ago.

there are so many more people alive today than there were before wwii that just to produce enough reincarnated souls to fill the world now you would need to have everybody alive in 1930 reincarnated (and you still wouldn't have half enough souls).

you can't have everybody alive in 1930 reincarnated - a lot of them aren't even dead yet.

at various points in human history the world population has been at most a few millions (or even less). how do you split two million souls to fill seven thousand million bodies?

reincarnation is about the silliest idea in the history of religion.

and that is a mighty achievement.

Not everyone, just some and these seem to be mostly Christians.

This is not even all Christians, just some. Their concept is that every soul is born once, lives, and is Divinely judged upon death. Divinity then determines either Heaven or Hell (with an optional Purgatory for some).

These people somehow believe that they will be granted an eternity of bliss or torment based upon their personal thoughts, words and deeds for a few short years of life on this planet. They would find the concept of being judged "incomplete" and being returned to earth very hard to accept.

well, putting religion aside and just taking into consideration about my personal take on the concept.. i think those who don't want to believe in reincarnation are 1)people who definitely don't want to live over and over again.. there needs to be an ending, it gets boring after several reincarnations. 2)people who find the idea of rebirth a nightmare.. they hate their life that much. 3)earth is not a conducive place to live anymore.. come on, after 10 reincarnations, imagine how this planet will be?unless scientist find a way to make life on a another planet possible, then it should be fine.. heaven n hell seems to be the better choice.. and people who wants to be reincarnated are either 1)they're not satisfied with this life and wants a better one next time 2)people who fear the idea of heaven and hell 3)people who love earth that much.. actually i could go on, and on, but i think that should be enough..

Everybody finds any idea of an afterlife, let alone reincarnation, difficult to accept. That's because the acceptance of reincarnation/afterlife relies entirely on faith.

Reincarnation is a superstitious belief unconfirmed by any divine source. However, there are people all over the world, apart from those who follow Indian religions, who believe in reincarnation, or rather would wish that the idea of reincarnation were true. The reason for this is that people who do not believe in religion, who deny the existence of an afterlife and are afraid of either ceasing to exist or of living in Hell forever after their death, see reincarnation as a way of overcoming these fears. Belief in reincarnation necessitates believing that one should not be afraid of death; it misleads one into thinking that he will achieve his desires by means of rebirth.
However much one may wish to adopt superstitious beliefs such as a belief in reincarnation in order to overcome the fear of death and the afterlife and so console himself, the reality is that we will never come back to this world again after our death. Everyone will die just once, and after death, in accordance with Allah's will, we will begin our everlasting life in the next world. Allah will reward a person in the Garden or punish him in the Fire for his living a life in harmony with His unity or his covering over that truth in this world. Allah is the source of eternal justice. He is infinitely Merciful and Kind, and gives humans the true and just reward for their belief or disbelief and actions.

There's nothing empirical to it.
Why would I accept something so baseless?

Furthermore, presuming it defers 'justice' to afterlife upon afterlife. It makes cosmic what SHOULD BE earthly. We should not defer our earthly mistreatment of people to worlds that WE DONT KNOW TO BE THE CASE.

The 'poor' person acting out their karma, fated there, will get their reward or punishment by this theory. Invoking that sentiment is injust to the suffering of the here-and-now.

Because people in general are sundered away from past and future. They choose to confine their focus on the present alone.
