I can list some stereotypes of French people:
They smell
They don't shave their underarms
They're rude/snobby
They hate americans
The truth is, when I went to France two years ago, most of the French people there were very nice and curteous. If you smile at them, they smile back. One man even came running out of a restaurant to bring me my jacket that I had left in there. All of the americans I came across were rude. Go figure?
Oh, and a lot of them don't shave their underarms. And yes, they do smell a little bit.

Stereotyping might seem not to be very uncommon in the society but we have to consider that it is rude though. Bear in mind that stereotypes are generally wrong and baseless.
So let me just give you some common misconceptions about the French. They think that a French lover is the most romantic lover in the world. Wrong. Just because "french kiss" comes with the french word, it doesn't mean that they like kissing and thus they are regarded romantic. They might be more liberal in showing their feelings/love though.
Generally, they regard the French as polite folks. Could be. But then it usually comes with the level of formailty that the French use when they speak.
Another common misconception is that they are not very unhygienic. But don't most Europeans stink? Like the Arabs as well as the Indians and the Chinese? It comes with the weather. If you live with the cold climate you don't usually pay as much attention to hygiene. Like taking a bath twice a day.

One stereotype is that the French are cowards. But you may remember it was the French under Napoleon that conquered most of Europe. And, in 1781, the French saved Americas @$$ at Yorktown. Also, the largest ethnic group in the German Waffen SS in WWII was French. They actually outnumbered the Germans. They were all located on the Russian front where the fighting was fiercest.

I hate to use stereotypes because they are dumb but since you asked,
the French smell because they don't shower
they hate Americans
they are anti-Semitic
they never fight their own battles
I don't believe any of this is all true
