a company called itec manufacturing in Brigham city utah has found a way to beat the chinese at their own game.. They can build things 10 times faster than the Chinese - so labor at $10 per hour is really only $1 per hour. The goal is to keep all manufacturing in the US. www.itec-mfg.com

I think China's rapid development is due to its green business/infrastructure/new technology prospects, whereas the US has already matured.
On top of it, Chinese people have quite a high savings rate in comparison with the US. And they believe in Quantity more than Quality. So you can get a lot of cheap stuff made in china for less... and usually people prefer cheap stuff for less.
Education system in China is a lot tougher than in the US. Most Chinese kids learnt geometry, trigonometry, calculus stuff since elementary. and there're alot of them (4.5 billions).
So it's not just Cheap labor that makes China flexing its muscle...
anyways, back to question: Can a US Based company beat the chinese at their own game- Cheap labor?
Well good luck finding people who want to work $1/ hour.

I think Chinese campany beat US Based company because Chinese labor is cheap. But in high-Tech industry Chinese could not beat US. See the sample www tinyurl.com/jzs3u this will beat Chinese.

Why do you want to beat the chinese? why do you want persistently do the labor job if you can find someone who is willing to do it a cheaper price and more efficiently with similar quality of finished work?
We never beat the machine when steam engine was invented, we bring ourself to the next level, sync with the workplace and making it more efficient.... It is time for everyone to get to the next level and leave the labor work for them who's willing to do it at a better price..i guess

You can't beat them at cheap labor. You can however be more productive to the extinct that your cost per product is less expensive to make.
