Nature is full of geometric examples. Humans knew of these shapes long before the rational mind was able to think in mathematical terms.

The moon is a sphere, which we "see" as a circle when it is full.

Table salt is made from cubic crystals, each face of which is a square.

A spider forms a web, but often individual strands form triangles. The mineral fluorite has octagon crystals formed from 8 triangles (two pyramids base to base).

Almost everything (matter) we see has some sort of shape, excluding water (variable, depending on its container) and air. Hence, the idea of squares, triangles and other shapes are originated from the natural world itself.

Serious use of Geometric concepts ramped up to build the first great civilizations 5300 yrs ago, But I see no reason to assume that these concepts were in wide use long before that . I figure that wise leadership saw the advantages of making use of these practices and advancing the science for the benefit of society and of course their personal power and defense.
Wise leadership paying for science and education would take us to a greater level too. If it existed. Unfortunately.....

Mathematics at its most fundamental and instinctual level. These shapes exist all around us, they are not ideas invented or discovered by humans so much as universal constants.

Time is square electromagnetism is triangular and the effects created between these two are circular ;)
