home pregnancy tests are accurate usually by one week after a missed period. time is the essance in the morning after pill, which is what i think you mean. You can call any pharmacist to ask but I think it's only good for hours after unprotected sex.
In the us call an agency : Planned Pregnancy and make an appointment as soon as possible.
If your an adolescent, think about confiding in a trusted adult but don't go alone for the proceedure. It is an emotional experience but giving birth and raising a child is an awsome responsibility. but seek counciling from planned parenthood. they can help you with it all. good luck

Okay, first things first. The drug store tests are EXACTLY the same urine tests that your doctor's office will use. They're highly accurate now. That wasn't the case several years ago. (My mom's a nurse and my husband is a med student...I've asked both of them during our various pregnancies and resulting kids.)

Most of the "abortion pills" are really more of a morning-after thing. You use them the next day, not several weeks after you've had unprotected sex. They work by preventing the fertilized egg from implanting itself into the lining of your uterus. If you are far enough along to have missed a period, the implantation process has already occured.

Next, if you're seriously looking into abortion, check out all of your options before making the decision. Do some serious research. This is a big step, either way. Make sure you're prepared. Then get some couseling before and after either decision.

The best thing to do is go to your doctor and see if you are actually pregnant or not. I would do it either way...i have been late for my period for a month so it might be stress or you could be pregnant. Sometimes if women stress too much it can change their flow on their periods. I wouldn't pay any attention to Frank's answer he's just trying to scare you. Abortion is definitely not the answer so please reconsider about it. If I was in your shoes I would have the baby and give it up to someone who really needs a wonderful human being in their lives. I am also adopted but that's a different story. So please have the baby if you are pregnant! It's the best thing for your health and for the baby!

Since we dont know how late you are, it's hard to help. You can probably get accurate test results now or go to a planned parenthood for a test. There is a pill used with a suppository that you need to get from a doctor that causes a non surgical abortion but that has to be done before 9 weeks.

You can get all this info from planned parenthood.

Well, best is to ask in a drugstore - they'll give you advice on the test.

If you are pregnant, you'd have to see the doctor anyway. The only abortion pills I've heard of, contain the substance RU486.

I do not know the law of the state you are living - usually you would need a doctor to get the pills!!

Everything else would be illegal and dangerous (in case it's a false pill)

you can still get pregnant even if you have a 'period'. the only true way to find out is to see your doctor and do a blood test for beta-hCG. home kits are not 100% accurate and have a higher 'false-negative' and 'false-positive' rate than a blood test, which is the most accurate. whilst you are at the doctor's getting the blood test, you can also get a test for any std's that you may have contracted during unprotected sex. some std's (eg chlamydia) can make you sterile (ie. you will no longer be able to have a baby later on).

the key is TIMING: get to the doctor's as soon as possible (ideally before 5 days of intercourse).

in the meantime, remember that you are still valuable and precious...so take care of yourself and your body.

The "Morning after" pill is NOT ABORTIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! it is an EMERGENCY contraceptive that must be take within 72 hrs of risky intercourse. (some Dr.s say within 48) Many women Will then start their period. Thus implantation cannot occur. Thus it is not ABORTIVE in nature. It will not affect an existing pregnancy
You can get a test at the drug store. False positive test results are very rare. IF you are pregnant, please think about this--there are many many women who are unable to have children. Please consider adoption.
