and i;ve seen people trying to compare Kobe Bryant with Michael Jordan. I have never seen anything so rediculios or such an insult to a legend. Would this be a fair comment ?

I'm not a big basketball fan (although I like it), but I totally understand what you mean. I guess some people think that at any point in time there HAS to be someone who is outstandingly good, and so they choose the best one at a certain time and end up making ridiculous comparisons between him and the greatest legends. And sometimes the numbers are on their side, but a number really doesn't mean that much.

It really annoys me, specially because there are young people who have never seen the best ones play and are led to believe they were not much better than the ones who are being compared to them. In soccer (my favourite sport) it's the same, they insist on comparing Ronaldinho to geniuses like Pelé and Maradona, which I think is almost a blasphemy. The guy is good, but come on! But I hope History will do justice to the ones who really were the best. Don't worry, Michael Jordan is a legend, it will take more than a few people's opinion for anyone to replace him in basketball mythology.

No, for multiple reasons.
Reason # 1 Kobe Bryant's single game high is 12 points higher than MJ.

Reason # 2 KB has been noted to be a Future Hall of Famer multiple times, making him a legend already.

Reason # 3 KB's scoring average isn't too far off from MJ's.

Reason #4 KB has had a much worse team in the past two years, and yet he has made them playoff worthy, almost beating the Suns.

And to shut all the idiots up, Kobe may seem like a ball hog, but who else on the team can score like him, and Jordan did the same thing at about the same age as Kobe. Also Jordan wasn't just a ball hog at times, but he was a money hog, always complaining about others pay checks and how he didn't get the biggest contract Chicago could offer.

Yes, it's a fair comment, except that Kobe is, and most certainly will be, greater than Michael Jordan ever was.

jordan was the best and most fun to watch i have ever seen. kobe is a ball hog and it's always got to be about him, he is not a team player. jordan was a leader, kobe is not.

Yep, I agree that even the though is ridiculous. JORDAN was a God in bball and while Kobe is great, he just doesn't compare.

Jordan is the benchmark and will be compared for years. You don't have to be an expert to post here.
