How come "emergencies" such as a car breaking down or a furnace going out only take place on the weekends when calling a mechanic or a repairman costs twice as much? This is not, atleast for me, an occasional thing. It ALWAYS happens this way.

LOL As true as it might seem, this is not the case. You are probably home more often on the weekend rather than the weekdays, so you notice more often what is usually happening. For your furnace, there are now wonderful annual insurance plans that cover the cost of "off hours" maintenance. As for your car, well, perhaps its just that when you need it the most, something happens that any other time isn't so big a deal, but on the weekend it seems more urgent. It only makes you normal! Like the rest of us......

Actually, if you were to write down EVERY emergency (as you call it), on your calendar, you would find that few of them are actually on the weekends.

Most of them happen on the week days, but, since you are able to "deal" with them, you dont call them emergencies!

Keep track and eventually you will notice a pattern. Then, take steps to avoid these, or minimize these, like proper preventive maintanance on certain items and avoidance of other things... That may be destructive in nature, or costly in the long run.

I wish you well..
