Ever read or seen The Day of the Triffids??
If you don't feed and water your pet peeves, they become undomesticated. If they're undomesticated, you can't control them any more, and it's only a matter of time before they're stalking around the neighbourhood all on their own, stinging people they have no business to sting and basically fouling up the joint.
Never neglect your pet peeves - there's a hotline number people can call if they spot stray peeves, and then you might lose your peeving license.

You will soon turn into a raving lunatic unless you fertilize as well.
Those peeves need proper nourishment or all that weirdness will leave your head and look for a new home.
