Haha, that happened to me!
It's called "Nesting". Within the week you may have your baby!
Don't go to a lot of trouble and don't over strain yourself. Just remember if your water breaks....make sure it's the sac fluid. The only prenatal class I went to and I learned if it's clear & odor free fluid...that's the amniotic fluid. I had my daughter within the week after I "nested".
Good luck & congratulations!

It's called the nesting instinct. Your body knows that soon it will be doubling the baby's weight, very busy giving birth and taking care of a new baby 24/7. To prepare, it instinctively starts wanting to take care of duties and un-done chores to make sure there isn't anything that can take away from your attention to the baby when it comes. I think it's also a good way subconsciously for your brain to keep you busy. After 30 weeks, 10 more seems so long, and you are so ready to have this baby, the need to clean sort of keeps your mind off things. I wonder too if it doesn't help the practice contractions along...helping to thin your cervix with the constant motion of your hips while cleaning.
It usually kicks in from now until around 34-36 weeks. After that time you tend to be so uncomfortable that you really can't clean anything else, least of all dream of getting up off the couch! You're almost there...good luck.

at 30 weeks i did the same thing and rearranged all the furniture, bought lots of storage boxes and cleaned absolutely everything i could get my hands on. I also had strong urges to buy baby clothes and really couldnt help myself.
Funny just how strong your instincts are hey! Just dont over do it, i did and tore a muscle in my stomach, very painful (and dumb!).
Doesnt mean your about to give birth I gave birth at 41 weeks
And experienced the nesting instinct again when bub was around 4 months. Good luck!

I guess there are different tales, I was told you could tell someone is pregnant (usually around a couple of weeks to 1 or 2 months) if they start cleaning. I know this to be true because a co-worker just out of the blue started cleaning everything, and she never cleans up. Then a month later, she announced she was pregnant.

Your behavior is completely normal. It is referred to as "nesting". It is something many women nearing the end of their pregnancy do. It is said that many women do this as an instinctual urge to prepare for the birth of their baby in a clean, sanitary environment.
Good luck!

I wouldn't go calling the labor ward just yet.. Sure, maybe you're just nesting, but it doesn't mean you'll go into labor prematurely.
