Electric current was shown to flow in one direction. Has any experiment SHOWN lines of flux "leave" one pole and "enter" another or is this just an agreed upon convention. Please supply info or link on the experiment.

well u might hav seen enough picts/diagrams showing such field lines.

try this experiment.
place a barmagnet under a cardboard/examboard etc. then throw some iron fillings on the board. U will c that a pattern exactly like the one shown in diagrams is obtained.

i guess this little 'experimental' proof satisfies u.

The direction of the magnetic-flux-density vector is by definition from the south to the north pole of a magnet (within the magnet). Outside of the magnet, the field lines will go from north to south.
