The probablity that u need to try 4096 combinations is 1/4096. 4095 times u ll be able to open it in lesser number of tries.
u cant do it for certain in lesser comb always unless you have some other information about the state of locks or use some other source to obtain it.
lookin at ur q's it seems u really get screwed opening doors ..12 locks ...remote inside ,, :)

I would turn each lock twice, then i could be certain that i had opened it with one of the turns...
If however, i wanted to open the door then I would probably smash it down, much easier than turning 12 locks 144 times to get the right combination :)

p.s. think this should be in puzzles

Just turn to one way on the lock by 12 times.

With an industrial dismantling tool of some sort, otherwise its a very long code breaking exercise.

Also, more obviously, if you just look at the locks you should be able to tell which one is the locked postition and vise versa. You science guys always overthink these problems.

Not possible to open the door if some are initaily locked and some are not AND as I unlock a door there is no information whether it became locked or unlocked.

i'd use iron filings and a magnet. i would put double sided tape over the lock inside the doorway. then , i'd magnatize each space then pour iron particles on it. none would stick to an open lock. not bad for a 13yr old huh?

I think you need a better explanation. Unlock 12 locks??

I would turn the main lock carefully, so they open at the same time

lock all of the locks on the door (turn right) and unlock all of them again (this time turn the key left(it may be vice versa))

this way is possible becuase you can't lock a lock twice

i can't assure you though

I would fire a Pantzerfaust and blast the door and the wall it's in to pieces :)

I'm curious for the correct answer :p
