There are so many of them and they're everywhere I go. I've been ignoring people like this for years but our own government is trying to limit our life choices now. America is no longer a land of the free. I know I'm not the only one who becomes disheartened at times, but I am running out of ways to cope with the hate.

Any suggestions?

There is likely no easy answer to this. There is a lot of injustice in the world, and when you notice it, it is that much harder. I know that I'm not the best person to answer (I'm a straight ally), but I understand these feelings. I see what is being done to my best friend, I see her suffering, not able to be happy because she is so afraid just to come out, and it hurts me. When I see someone saying those horrible things, I think about her (my best friend). I think about her, living in a big house, with her loving wife, and their beautiful kids that they are the full legal parents of. I think about that ultimate goal, and it reminds me that, yes, there is a long way to go, but if I get too depressed about it, it will only get longer, and the haters win. This way of thinking may help you, it may not, depends on the person. If not, I have one other suggestion. You know that you are not the only one, you know that others face the pain and fight the fight. Think about it like this: all those people, queer or not, who get hurt by the haters are also all the "lovers" who are fighting and working to support you and everyone else like you. Humans have a tendency to notice the bad and forget the good. When you are forced to look at the haters, make yourself remember the lovers.

As for the government, go out, vote at mid-term elections, get friends to vote (I know, I sound like an after-school special). Remember, the "gay vote" is always a major swing, just like the "black vote" and the "woman vote." It may take time, but we will win. They will have to realize that equal rights means equal rights, whether they like it or not. I hope some of this helped some.

There is so much greed, hate and violence in the world today, not all aimed at minority groups. Mind you, I think that USA is probably more tolerant of gays that we here in Australia. If you come out of the closet, expect to have your head shot off. Then again I guess it is a matter of choice, if you wear your sexuality on your sleeve then it is a red rag to the bullies out there. I think all we can do is try and find peace within ourselves and you can be 'in the world but not of the world' that is from the bible. Love is a wonderful healer, there is so much hatred as you have said, sure I get annoyed at it, but hey, if we do, then the haters are winning aren't they? Best wishes from down under!

hate them back harder.. for awhile.. get it out of your system in fantasy and self-feedback roleplay (i.e. talking to yourself and acting out alone what you wish you could say to them if the world were a perfect place and you wouldnt be jailed for it [*giggles*]).. then realize the world isnt a perfect place.. and there will always be people who want the worst for you, and stick your nose up and chest out and get on with your life. "Living well is the best revenge." a lil quote I remember... not sure from who, but I like it.

I usaly grumble about it and take it out on GTA... lol

Serously though...the people that hate are usaly to stupid and close minded to listen to anything sencable.... I still try though, but it don't usaly make much a diffrance....

When it gets to me though I usaly just talk about it with people that understand and share my veiws.

i agree with the statement about your country america is so behind with its morales at least here in england you can marry
if they start on you just smile and walk away and in your heart you are the better person.
If they hate on you here in england you can take them to court for it and i have done 3 times!
