Since Biology is the study of life, and vitalism is the doctrine of life that cannot be explained, both are conflicting. Biology seeks to explain the many mysteries on how the body works, and I have to say that many scientists are fairly successful at that, but vitalism mainly stems from philosophy, where the soul is a contested being here.
Some times, miracles do happen, which leave doctors puzzled. Philosophers feel that it is the will of the soul, or another force, whether internally or external that helps the physical body to overcome the disease. Biologists accept the fact that miracles do happen, but have not given the exact cause of it. After all, miracles cannot be explained scientifically.
