Think of silt as naturally occuring soil replenishment. Some of the most productive farmland on our planet can be found in the delta areas at the mouths of rivers. Think of the Mississippi, Mekong, Nile, and Amazon deltas. All of them are the result of the settlement of silt. The most productive farmland along the world's rivers and streams is generally the bottomlands on the inside bends of the rivers. These bottomlands are also the result of the silt deposits left by the rivers and streams.

My answer is that the best use of silt is for growing plants.

Good luck with your search for information.
