Go hug a tree you hippie douche!

And all of you suckers that are paying EXTRA for hybrids... It will take many years to realize those "savings" and wait till you have to replace those batteries.

Gas prices are a cost of doing business for me. I am a large person, and I drive quite a few miles a week (1000-1500). The comfort of a larger vehicle is more important than the cost of the fuel.

I do not believe that global warming is a problem. The earth has cycles, and we only have records that could be considered accurate for a period of about 100 years. There is no way to draw accurate conclusions with such limited data.

global warming is a myth, there was an ice age as recently as 600 years ago and yet "global warming" also killed some dinosaurs millions of years before. earth's temperature patterns are cyclic. sure it's getting hotter now, just wait in a few hundred years temperatures will plumett again. just you wait.

and even if gas was $50 a gallon and my hummer only got 1 mile per gallon then i'd still drive it b/c it makes me look like a bigger badass than you do in your geo metro

Hybrid cars possess technology and benefits. Hybrid cars give more miles per gallon than a regular car. Hybrids come with the latest technology.
Basically a hybrid car is an automobile that combines a gas power engine and an electric power engine together to get high speeds and high miles at the same time (hybrid cars specifications). The hybrid engines are built smaller to accelerate. The gas engine is only used when going up hill or when the car accelerates at high speeds. A hybrid engine also shuts off for better gas economy. Hybrids are also built lighter and more with aerodynamic than any other regular car. Hybrid cars recycle energy by using breaking energy to charge the battery. (Hybrid cars) One of the best hybrid cars on the road today is the Toyota Prius with Hybrid Synergy Drive Technology (HSDT). And it combines a gas engine with an emission free electric motor to achieve amazing fuel economy. (Hybrid car information) All of this technology has come a long way. Back in 1900’s Lohner Porsche was the sensation of the world exhibition. He invented the electric car, and over 300 of these motor cars were sold, but people started to buy gas engine cars. And Today over a hundred years later, people are starting to buy semi electric cars. It is expected that over the few years the numbers of hybrid models is going to triple. (Hybrid car specifications)
All of this innovation comes at a price typically around $2,000 through $5,000 dollars more that a regular car but the I.R.S is willing to give the buyer “full tax credits”. One will get from $650 to $3,150 plus the savings at the pump is over $500 dollars a year. (Hybrid cars) After all the 2006 Toyota Prius wont the over all value on the consumer choice award. (Hybrid car information) There are also some tips that drivers who own hybrid cars should follow in order to set even more miles per gallon than the car was designed to get. Maintaining a constant speed and avoiding abrupt stops can give one over 65 miles per gallon. That is something a Hummer H2 can’t do. A Hummer H2 gives one only 10 miles per gallon on regular city driving and 13 miles on the highway. Its base price is 52,000 dollars. A Prius on the other hand gives you 61 miles per gallon in regular city driving and 56 miles on the highway, and its base price is around $20,000 and that is $30,000 dollars less than the Hummer H2. That’s how these cars are different. The similarities are that that both cars have space for 5 adults and the 0 to 60time is 10.2 seconds. As a result the Toyota hybrid is not only cheaper but it gives one more for ones money because is sells for less than $25,000. And it comes with the latest technology like Bluetooth, Smart Key System (SYS), backup camera, GPS, XM radio, mp3 player, 6 speaker sound system and Intelligent Parking Assistance (IPA)
And a powerful 120HP engine. After all why does one need an engine over 200HP. Most cars doing 60 miles per hour only take 20HP, so one doesn’t really need a motor over 200hp. The only time one is going to use the 200HP is when one is going to “Floor it” but how can you do that when the freeway is packed and the street speed limit is 35 miles per hour. As a result, you don’t need a 200hp engine. (Hybrid car specification)
But if someone really wants that kind of power there is a hybrid that can give one even more than just a 200hp engine. Is call the Toyota Volta, a hybrid capable of generating 408HP and able to go from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds and at the same time it can give one 30 miles per gallon. (Hybrid car information)
Hybrid cars have the technology to perfume better because they don’t need the gas engine all the time. A Hybrid also has an electric engine. It can be use when the car doesn’t need much power during the time the gas engine is shut off. Hybrids also use the breaking force to charge the battery. This is called “recover energy and store”. Another hybrid technology is “parallel hybrid”. What it basically does is to get power from both the gas engine and the electric engine for faster acceleration. There is also the use of lightweight materials to reduce the over all weight of the car. This not only increases mileage, but it also increases speed. Hybrid engines and frame are also built lighter to reduce weight in a massive way. Hybrids are also built with less aerodynamic drag and high-pressure tires. Together, they improve speed and the way the car moves in sharp turns. (Hybrid car specifications) One of the things that one has to remember is that the use of fossil fuel releases carbon dioxide in high amounts when its burned, and carbon dioxide is one of the dominant green house gasses and that leads to global warming. The California global warming regulation is going to cut the green house gas by 30% in the years to come. That means that cars that releases heavy amounts of gases are not going to be able to be used in California, That is going to cause the United States Markets go down by 30%, but one also has to remember that 19% of gas money is taxes. Since gas prices have been getting high lately, for example (removed) gas station reported $3.41 a gallon on 5-27-06. California is also giving privileges to people who drive hybrid cars like free parking in some areas and the use of carpool lanes at anytime no matter how many people are on board. (Hybrid car information)

In conclusion, there are many reasons why people should buy a hybrid car, Thanks to California doing everything they can to persuade people to buy hybrids, the market is expected to go down by 30% but the United States market will go up when American car companies start to sell hybrids. Since hybrids are expected to triple in the next couple of years, the market should stable it self, Hybrids are not just economic, but they are also healthy for the environment and us.

"Most hybrid cars have long warranties on the hybrid battery. For example the Toyota Prius has a 8 year/ 100,000 mile warranty. (And in some states like California this is extended to 10 year, 150,000 miles.)"-http://hybridcars.about.com/od/hybridcarfaq/f/batteryheat.htm
