How do I upload movies/videos from VHS onto my computer?

I want to Upload some old video clips off of my old VHS Tapes, so I can post them on www.youtube.com. But, I do not know how. Do I need to buy a cord to plug into my VCR? Or Do I just need to start finding my old videos on DVD? Haha

Not really. You need to transfer VHS to compact disc (CD) & then it can be saved to your pc. Or if you have a VHS camcorder you can do so. For that you can consult a photo studio, they do this frequently.

you have 3 ways
1 get a tv capture interface for your computer you can get from all video device this interface is between 80 to 600 us$
but you need more resource on your computer (same as power cpu, more ram ,more hdd capacity ) this is expensive
and you lose quality if your interface are blow 500 us$
2 record directly from your vcr to dijital handycam , all new handycam camera( same as sony & samsung ) have a usb inteface for connectin to computer (a dijital sony handcam with usb support between 350 to 800 us $ ) more expensive !
3 get a dvd-vhs player system this device contain a vhs and dvd cuncurrent and yiu can use this device for see on tv and converting
you can write from vhs to dvd or record from dvd to vhs without any addition device this system with LG brand contain 400 us$ but with this device you can not miss quality but if you want get from vcr and write to dvd by computer you have miss picture quality

You can do this with a TV tuner card and a VCR. Try searching for them on amazon, or ask the employees about them at your local computer or electronics store. Depending on the web site you're trying to use, you might also need to convert the format... try looking at the guides at http://www.doom9.org
