If you're talking about love and relationships...I think that you have to work hard to keep that joy that you have when you first fall in love. The romance has to be kept alive. Its the little things...talking together and listening to each other. Making time for a break together, having a candle-lit dinner...it is easy to drift apart...especially when you are busy with children and activities and separate interests. You must see each other as first priority. And even when you disagree or have a healthy argument with no name calling...don't go to bed angry...call a truce until you are not so tired and can discuss whatever bugged you calmly. Once you get rid of the resentment or anger or tiredness and forgive ...the joy returns. Be honest and open....I write things down for myself when I am angry about something. Then when I am calm I write to my husband. There is a way to communicate and we need to learn how. And never say the d...word. The path of true love never runs smooth....you're on a huge learning curve. Make it work. Even one dedicated partner can rescue a relationship. When we were in a bad place....I used to clean his golf shoes. Just that act of kindness un-asked for gave me good feelings back especially if he noticed. Don't set out to change the other one...that is a recipe for disaster. Ask for help also...spiritual help, friends, relatives. All the best!
