Yes they do. At least I think my dog does. Cause when we shave his fur for summer he does not want to seem other people. He does not want to go out and he always wants to sit on his butt. The vet said he could be shy. But maybe he just wants to protect his back I do not really know. But I believe they can get embrassed.

Yes, some of them do. Try this experiment. Get a reasonably intelligent animal like a dog or cat. Stare at them for a few seconds, then start blinking. Chances are, they'll start blinking too. This shows that they relate to you and understand that there's something in common. That's mostly what embarrassment is about.

In animal behaviour, there is a pattern (called "Uebersprung" in German, couldn't find a translation) which makes animals go into frantic activity like cleaning themselves when they feel watched or similar. While human embarrassment has other symptoms, too, these are observable with embarrased people.

So, there are hints that some kind of embarrassment is known to animals.

I would say no, because embarrassment is a social construct. I recently wrote an essay on the use of manners for my sociology degree and will iclude a summarised part of my embarrasment section:

...Embarrassment similarly, punishes the breaking of a societal rule, because it is not possible for there to be a law for every slight, day to day misdemeanour. For example, a person who falls asleep during church or laughs during a funeral will feel greatly embarrassed because they are aware that they have broken a widely accepted rule and have not adhered to the standard of manners required.

Some animals do. Dogs don't, they're too happy-go-lucky. We all know cats get embarassed - everyone's seen a cat fall off a chair or something and stalk off like "I didn't do that. WHat are you talking about? You must be seeing things." Also, I've seen my horses playing in the pasture and one will trip and look very chagrined. Nothing (human or animal) wants to be considered stupid by its peers.

My mums dog gets embarassed if it has a little accident! My mum never tells it off because accidents happen but the dog will fuss around and keep it's ears down. My mum will call it over and it then goes all soppy lol.

We get embarassed when we are not sure what to do in an awkward situation. Whether it be falling over in public or sat in silence on a first date, it is all embarassment!
