I have a windows PC right now and I am planning to change it to a new Mac Book. I mainly use the computer for web browsing, IM and reasearch and typing. I am quite interested in graphics designing. I worry much about compatibility issues. Which is better for me and why. If you have experiences with MACS and/or PC can you tell me please. Thanks ^_^

When you switch to Mac, your web browsing will be much more enjoyable with no pop-ups and greater security, but your IM experiance, depending on what service you use the most, will most likely suck. Yahoo hasn't updated their messenger for Mac in 2 and a half years, but on the other hand, iChat (AIM/Jabber) is most a most enjoyable application (for most people). Your graphics design work will be better, but right now, all of adobe's software for Macs is not universal, so you have to run Illustrator under modulation, making it a bit slower. I use Photoshop, and it works fine for most things, but some times it is slow because of this. By the time CS3 comes around, that problem should be fixed. The asthetics of a Mac and the software that is made for it makes it easier for a designer person to see their work without being distracted by the interface. As far as compatibility goes, as long as the extention and the software versions are compatible, then you should be okay.

I have always used a PC, but even though there is the annoyance of compatibility, I would totally buy a Mac. Last longer and heard great things.

You'll find more compatable software on a Windows based unit, but the Mac is cooler looking, but over priced.

I suggest you better buy windows operating system based laptop. U can go for Dell Inspiron 6400 (configure it). Windows OS has many benefits related to software compatibility, security, additional downloads, wide platform and price. Macbooks are expensive and now the Intel chips based powerbooks are over priced.

Most of the graphics design companies use Macs, so you should get use to them now. Plus, they are far more stable, last longer, and you get better support then with PCs.

You can get the best of both worlds with the new Intel based Mac Books. You get a great laptop for a decent price (1300$ with the dvd-rw) and you can install xp on it with bootcamp so waht are you waiting for?

"I don’t recommend Sony at all, primarily because the company’s crappy customer service and mediocre technology. If you an Apple fan, then you know what to buy, no point in repating it here. Yes Apple is great and fantastic and the PowerBooks are tasty. Yaddayaddayadda". -http://www.cyberwalker.net/columns/aug03/how-to-buy-laptop-2004.html (2004)

Well, the new apple laptops are going to have intel processors (you can run windows on it), and since apple is the bomb, you just have to go with apple!
