new technology has helped Harley Davidson turn around major reliability problems, and nothing compares when it's time to sell a H-D,I have an '04 FXSTI- only thing I've ever had a problem with was the fuel gauge after some idiot knocked me off of it in a parking lot, and after a while it started working again

Without a doubt, for a bike that will never let you down, a BMW.
Resale? Gosh. Harleys seem to hold their value very well, but that's because they are rarely left "stock." Harley riders will add $5 or $6,000 in chrome and aftermarket parts, almost as a rule of thumb. Riding a stock Harley is "just not done."
So if you want to keep the bike for a while and want a machine that will always get you there AND back, get a Beemer.
If you want a trailer queen to haul around that you can sell for nearly what you have put into it (like a life-size Revell model), then get a Harley (but not a Sportster ... "real" Harley folks tend to look down on a Sportster).
Cheers.

The people building Harley Davidson motorcycles never had an original idea in their entire lives. They are capitalizing on antique technology and other company's ideas, wrapped around ignorance and hype.
If you want to look at the best street motorcycles in the world, for performance, quality and for resale value, look to BMW. If you're a poser and all you want to do is sit in front of the bar all weekend long and polish your chrome, then buy a Harley.

"best" for a street bike is difficult because it is a matter of preference and how you want to use the bike. Quality would have to be one these three Japanese manufacturers, Honda, Suzuki, or Yamaha. Resale value is definitely Harley -Davidson.

Honda , Honda and don't forget Honda. You can't beat the quality of a Honda and the resale price is great compared to many other companies. Hope I have been helpful

If you want to ride, get a Honda. If you want to resale, why dick with motorcycles to begin with?

Honda - end of story. Look at how many other markets they are in. Their products top the list in everything they do.
