I am planning to burn copies of my graduation movie onto at least 40 DVDs. I heard from one source that burning them one after another would cause overheating and destroy the DVD burner. Are there any experts out there who can confirm that? If it's true, then is it better to give a 15-30 minute break for my intel iMac after each burning session?

I have a huge collection of dvds and i sometimes copy 5 times that ammount in a day. However i do not do multiple copies one after another as i was told this can cause overheating to your burner.I copy 1 then i encode the next, this as you know takes a little time so it is allowing the burner to cool down. But i have done 4 in a row once and didnt see any problems-the last one out seemed a bit warmer than usual though.

I don't think so, any computer should be able to handle an unlimited amount of DVDs at a time. If your computer has to have a break, it may be time to upgrade.

I have not heard any such problem. You can give a break in between and burn them.
