Contrary to our friendly animal Activists who would probably rather save the local titmouse then the local Homeless Child, Most zoos take very good care of animals. Yes of course it isn't the wild, but most zoos try to get as close as possible, and in certian cases, Zoos are the best and possibly only hope for the continuation of specific Species of animals. this means that while the wild population of animal is being hunted to extinction, zoos are working to continue the species through technology, it isn't the best option but at least the animals are safe from hunters in zoos.

Now, if you want to talk cruelity to animals, talk about the idiots that decide they want to own a wild animal such as a Tiger or Mountian lion, raise it from a cub, and when it becomes an adolesent, and impossible to handle except by trained professionals, and they just let the animal go or Kill it, those are the idiots. those are the cruel ones.

any time an animal goes to a person that either doesnt know how to care for it, or doesnt care to learn, thats cruelity. i've heard of Ferrets being fed Fruit Loops, Dogs left for days without water, you name it, its all cruelity.
but a professional Zoo who's main concern is to care for Animals? thats Not cruelity. Yes its a zoo. yes the idea is to make money by letting people stare at the lions. but another side of the coin is that much of that money goes to research and further the attempt to save endangered species.

No - most of the animals in zoos are better off than their family in the wild. In good zoos, the animals are better fed and live longer, and they have medical care. Most zoos are regularly inspected by animal protection societies and the welfare of the animals is paramount. Good zoos are hiring animal behavior specialists to stop the animals getting bored.

Unfortunately you do get some zoos where the animals are treated badly.

There are some species of animals like the lowland gorilla, the Pere David deer whose natural habitat has been destroyed by humans. Without zoos those species would be extinct.

A great zoo will also be involved in the return of captive bred animals and birds to the wild.

Yes. I'm glad you asked.

The animals are taken from their natural home and dumped in a zoo for people to gawk and throw sh*t at them, sometimes people yell at them and taunt them.

I HATE zoos.

No, those animals are protected. One time I went to the zoo and one chimp layed on his back and peed in his own mouth, while his partner in crime pooped in his own hand and flung it on my girlfriend. I wanted to kick their monkey ***, but they are behind those walls and bars.
