Because they're sick perverts who obviously aren't satisfied with women their own age and must pick on those who can't protect themselves.
It's all about control, they like to control their victims and they find it easier to control a young girl than a woman.

The human libido is extremely varied. What the vast majority of people consider disgusting may be the only way some small percentage of people can get aroused. If we were talking about a shoe fettish, it would be amusing. If we're talking about pedophelia - we're outraged. Psychologically, there is not very much difference other than guilt. Socially, obviously, there is a world of difference. Be glad you don't suffer with pedophelia. Whether you view it as a sickness or an abomination, you can pretty well guarentee that sufferers will never be happy and will always be in harms way. I'm sure this reply will generate all kinds of disgust - but ask yourself what you would reasonably do if you realized YOU were so afflicted? Realistically, the only successful outcome would be if you realized early on in puberty that this was happening and reported to your parents that you weren't normal and needed drastic help. Can you imagine that happening? If it does, it is exceedingly rare. In most cases, the guilt and shame takes a pedophile straight into his or her sexual prime with no help - and the unfortunate results occur. Your average mid-puberty teenager simply doesn't have the where-with-all to make so intelligent a move.

There has also been a lot of men raping little boys. Men raping other men. Women teachers having sex with students. Its not men raping little girls.
Who knows really why a man would rape a woman or girl. Perversion? Maybe he wants to fill powerful?
All I know is it makes me sick.
