The default Style for Windows XP is the "Windows XP style" (strangely enough) and that style only has 3 colour schemes. If you switch to the "Windows Classic style" you will have a multitude of styles to pick from, but the interface buttons and other elements will not look like XP but like older versions of windows. You can get another free Style form Microsoft for free (the Royale style that was the old look for Windows Vista), or alternatively you can use a program like WindowsBlinds or StyleXP. The difference between them is that Windows Blinds uses a bit more resources but has more features. You can also use the patched uxtheme.dll that emulates StyleXP using no resources. Both programs have strong user bases and you will find millions of themes and styles for them. (both programs are also comercial products so I advise that you use the patched dll)

yes, but it wouldn't look like windows xp anymore.
it's still xp just with a 98 display.
then you can customize anything from font color on windows, to the colors of your start bar, the font of text anything you want, pretty much all of your display.
*go to start and find control panel\or my computer (if my computer than click control panel)
*double click on display
*click on the tab appearence
*click on the button that says advanced
*now you can click active title bar and change the color of you active window and the font of the toobars in the window the font of what it says up top.
*mess around with different font colors and fonts and background color until you like it.
*click "ok" in the the advanced window.
*go back to the appearence tab in display
* go to the first drop down bow and select" windows classic style"
* and presto lol
if you don't like it then just change "windows classic style" back to "windows xp style"

Just download themes or style xp. It's better than chaning just colors. It will become a little slower though.
