No, just because a non-citizen marries a US citizen that does not make them a US citizen.
The non-citizen would have to apply for citizenship. What the marriage WILL do is allow the non-US citizen to apply to stay in the country - and they HAVE to apply. Staying in the US is NOT automatic.
They would have to file a Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative
(Dept of Homeland Security, US Citizen and Immigration Services) The cost for filing this form is $190. I am not sure, but there might be other forms to fill out also. You (they) will need to contact the INS or Homeland Security.

Don't remember the actual reference, but there's some law that says you can bring someone to the US if you're looking to get married. And technically, no, getting married doesn't automatically make them a citizen, there's still a good bit of paperwork to go through, but in the end, if you're not marrying just for citizenship, then yeah, they'll end up being citizens as long as the marriage is valid...

this is what i have learn about this if you marry some one in a other country then that person has to stay in that country in til you fly back to the us and go to imagination file out some form then this take a long time because they have to do a complete back ground check on this person but if this person come to the us on a visa and you 2 get marry then report it then the process take shorter time but the visa that the person has is only good for 30 days and some time the paper work at immigration take longer then 30 days its a double edge sword so the best thing to do is to check with home land security before you jump in to getting marry and see what your option are.

It does not make them a citizen automaticly, however the immigration process for a spousal visa is not that complicated. If the foriegner is already in the country it would be advisable to seek the help of an attorney who specializes in immigration matters

No. There is not an automatic citizenship. They have to apply for citizenship. I have a good freind of who married his wife in another country, and it took 1 year to get all her paperwork approved before she could come over here and stay with him. He waited 1 whole year, married and by himself while he got everything straightened out.

I think that person would be eligible for citizenship immediately upon marriage. I don't know about the paperwork, but it should be a done deal once the marriage takes place. If it's just an engagement, it means nothing legally.

No. They will have a better shot at not being forced to go back, but they won't be true citizens till they pass the test.

There are different procedures, but it makes it somewhat easier if you are marrying an American.
