I speak standard English a go down to the hood all the time. I never had that problem no one will care. Well unless you start talking like Braxton on Jammie Fox. Or unless you talk in a way to make yourself seem better than that others then that's your problem. It you say things in away that were people interpret as trying to prove you better than some else. People will sense that your trying to use big words or talking in a way on propose to insult their intelligents. I use proper English, I hear blacks who know nothing about me, talk in a manner to make is seems he's better than me where I found it a insult, an d I was giving him a interview. Stereotyping me, If you talk to anyone in a way to show your better than people they will find it a insult. If you can't relate to people then you can never reach them.

Not that this questions fits the category, but It's called "internalized racism". After decades of being oppressed some blacks believe and internalize the racist things in this society. If you don't talk black then you're not "down". To them being able to speak standard English is "white" and you are therefore a sellout.

LMAO. I like this question. I frequently face that trouble and I discover it hilarious whilst individuals get disappointed with me for speakme normal english. What I relatively hate despite the fact that is whilst individuals say "You speak white." I speak white? Why can not it's that I simply talk correct? They make it sound like speakme correct is whatever handiest whites do and blacks speaks a different language.

thnk u for askin this, I hate how black people will view another as "being white" if they don't act the stereotypical black role or if they dress like white people. That's just ridiculous. Black is black and if you qualify as someone that would have been in the fields 200 years ago and not someone in the house, you should be treated as such.

because they are not playing the same game as those who do not. they need to get over the fact that speaking properly is not a white attribute, but just simply correct.

They probably think it's a black thing to speak it in... whatever fashion they do, there for (I assume you're black?) they probably think you're strange or something.

Just a guess.
