because they're fragile.
you want to know what's really cool? when a baby is in the womb, theres a hole through the center of it's heart connecting the right ventrical to the left ventrical so that the blood doesn't go to the lungs (since the baby can't breath inside the womb, the lungs are useless). when the baby is born and takes it's first breath, that hole closes up to direct blood in it's normal course to the lungs and back.
itn's that cool? it just takes an instant to change like that. perfectly mastered to keep the baby alive.

Sometimes nature has a way of taking matters into it's own hands. There could be a problem with the baby... we'll never know. But situations like that tend to work out for the better in the end.

I think they were sent here for a reason, just like everyone else. Some babies are sent to provide awareness of a disease. Some are sent for their parents' wellness. I don't really know a GOOD answer. True, babies do absolutely nothing to deserve this, but God does have a reason for everything, although we may not always know his reasons.

Since the beginning of time, all life forms have been winnowed
(or narrowed) down. Mother nature does this to insure the species survives and progresses. It is sometimes referred to
as selectivity. What it actually is, is SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. Sad as it is, this is the way of life. It's the way it's always been and is the way it will probably always be in the
future.
I know thats of no comfort to any of you who have lost a baby
and I am truly sorry for your loss but I believe this is the answer.

some die due to birth defects - ie holes in heart, brain abnormalities, prematuraty of birth etc. generally caused by a lack of care by the parents especially the mother - such as drug/alcohol dependance, smoking etc. Sometimes, it is through these things (smoking etc) that the parents learn a few things about life - ie like how fragile it can be and how one day you think you have something special and the next day its gone. It can even encourage the parents to give up these habits.

I don't believe we are born with a purpose. I think we define that as we grow and mature. I would think that babies die for much the same reason adults die. We all are born, we live for a time, and then we die.

I have asked this question many times and was searching for answers. The reason is because we dont understand the truth. Specially absolute truths and relative truths. eg. death is an absolute truth, but life is a relative truth. Read buddhism, you will get to know the real truths. (specially read about insight meditation)

Not everyone is born with a purpose. Sometimes, one's only purpose is to die. And perhaps is has nothing to do with them having something to offer or not. God doesn't take babies. Sickness, hunger, accidents, murder, etc take babies.
